PROFESSIONAL INFORMATION
Biography
Nicole Cush serves as the Principal of SILSA (School of Inquiry and Life Sciences at Asheville). Under her leadership, SILSA was named one of the top high schools in the Asheville Metro Area High Schools. Cush began her 17 year career as a Project Based Learning Teacher of Broadcasting and Cultural Media Literacy at Monmouth University in New Jersey. She led Inclusivity and Equity Initiatives as a trainer and administrator at Rutgers University and Northeastern University, and moved to North Carolina to lead high schools in Cary and Raleigh. Recognized as a Compassionate Leader, under her leadership of SILSA, she created a weekly series on Productive Struggle and Growth Mindset, founded the Glitter Sisters, birthing two affinity groups and is the lead administrator of the Racial Equity Ambassador Program. Cush is a doctoral candidate at Western Carolina University and serves on the Advisory Board of the NC Public School Forum, LEAF Global Arts and the YWCA Asheville.
